Day 4: Yakima, WA to Seattle, WA

Thursday, April 29th

Highlights:
  • First of 8 planned National Park visits - Mt. Rainier - Unfortunately, we never got a view of the actual mountain...but we did see a lot of snow and a brown fox.
  • Jennifer slowed down the shutter speed on her camera to capture some cool pictures of waterfalls.
  • Thai food in downtown Seattle for dinner.











Day 3: Boise, ID to Yakima, WA

Wednesday, April 28th
  • Miles driven: 390
  • Best house in the country: Emily & Will's in Yakima

Day 2: Ketchum ID to Boise ID

Tuesday, April 27th
  • Miles driven: 270
  • Misnomer of the day: Sun Valley
  • Best unexpected find: Kirkham Hot Springs near Lowman, ID
  • Best scenic byway: Ponderosa Pines (Stanley to Boise)
  • Best historic small town fact: Only 28 of the first 200 people buried in the Idaho City, ID cemetery died of natural causes
  • Best caution sign: Warning: Fog Heaves next 33 miles

Day 1: Orem, UT to Ketchum, ID

Monday, April 26th
  • Miles driven: 380
  • Bugs slain on the Mazda windshield: 380,000
  • Best CD of the day: Damien Rice's "O" (although Jennifer voted for "The Reminder" by Feist, which was overruled by the writer of tonight's post)
  • Best quote of the day: "Idaho is pretty!" (Anonymous)
  • Best food item of the day: Ice Cream Cookie at Rico's in Ketchum
Sights Seen:

Antelope Island State Park: Where we were attacked mercilessly by tiny black bugs.





Twin Falls Temple
, which was closed.

Shoshone Falls, where we dangerously and mischievously climbed over the iron railing to get cool pictures.





Monster Road Trip 2010


The Plan: Drive 4500 miles, visit 10 states, 8 national parks, 8 temples, and arrive in Plano, Texas before June 7th (Ryan's start date at HP).

Objectives: eat no fast food, try to avoid major interstate freeways, stop at "brown signs", play the alphabet game, and avoid stressing out.
