Day 8: Mukilteo, WA to Milwaukie, OR

Monday, May 3rd

Sometimes you have to eat a corn dog to remember that corn dogs aren't really very good. For me, it's been a couple years - so it was about that time. Jennifer stayed in Seattle Monday night to see her aunts off at the airport, so I drove by myself for this leg of the road trip. I completely forgot about our proposal to eat no fast food on this trip, and decided to stop at a Wienerschnitzel somewhere along the way. As I munched the aforementioned corn dog, it struck me that since they don't really taste good, corn dogs have no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

The most entertaining part of the day, however, was the muddy and slippery hike down to the waterfront in Mukilteo, and the splendid rope swing we found along the way.

The weather in Washington has been drizzly and a little cold, for the most part. We're now happy to be heading south - on to Eugene on Thursday, Crater Lake on Friday, Oregon Caves on Saturday, and the Redwoods on Sunday. Hopefully it warms up for our first nights of camping.
